2010 Book 1 - The Art Thief

Somebody stopped by my office today and asked what I had done during my two weeks off. I told him that I hadn't done much of anything, aside from reading and quilting. He said that he had a friend who was a big reader and read like 200 books last year and each time she finished a book, she would post on her Facebook. Well, I've decided that I wouldn't post on Facebook when I finished one, but I would do a blog for each book.

This morning I completed The Art Thief by Noah Charney. I would give this book 3 out of 5 stars. It was a fast read and interesting. I was reinformed about the inner workings of the art world. The plot was very convoluted and yet predictable. In general, I would recommend this book if you are looking for a quickie book that you could take on a trip and not feel bad about forgetting in the hotel room or on the plane.

Was I This Annoying in Highschool?

As I sit here waiting for my order of sure-to-be greasy Chinese take out for the castle this posse of highschool wanna be punks come in. They are clingy and loud and difficult and lots and lots of PDA. Was I annoying like that? And when did I get so old that I find it annoying?

2009 Recap

I borrowed this from somebody who commented on my blog and then I checked her out and liked her. Check out Margarita on the Rocks, Lots of Salt.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you’ve never done before?
There were so many things that I did in 2009 that I've never done before. But mostly, I saw parts of our country that i never saw before. I had a wonderful time and saw so much beauty, such as sunset and sunrise over the Pacific ocean; Yosemite Mountains, stars in the mountains that I felt like I could reach out and touch. Also, driving across the Extraterrestrial Highway and seeing the beauty of being in the middle of nowhere.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Nope, not really, but I'm not really certain I made any this past year. However, this year I resolve to spend less time on Facebook and more time on Face-to-Face time. Read more books. Make more quilts. Spend more time doing what I enjoy doing. Oh and lose weight, eat better, exercise, blah, blah, blah.

My friend Jenn Ann gave birth to twins.

Flashback Friday

I don't have a picture of New Year's Day handy (any that I have would be in storage). However, I do have this picture of a form of celebration. On July 4, 1976 we celebrated our country's Bi-Centennial. My mom's family came to visit us at our place in Mississippi. This picture was taken of me, my sister, and two of our cousin's ringing in the birthday of our country.

Happy New Year, everybody!! May this year bring you all the happiness that you all so richly deserve!!
