Today I am grateful that my customer is a department of the U.S. Government, because that means that I have a holiday today. This will give me the change to kick back and relax and have some ABBA time. My plan for the day is to take Leo to daycare and come home and hole myself up in my studio and work on a couple of projects.... I can't wait!!

Wonder Watson Wedding Quilt
Yesterday Sara (Wonder Watson-to-be) had her Bridal Shower. I made her a quilt in the colors of their guest room, as well as in honor of Randall (the guy helping her hold the quilt in the above picture) as a former Marine. I have to say that I am a little proud of this quilt. The pattern is called Lover's Knot, which I thought was also appropriate as it represents the entwining of two lives. There are patterns out on the web that I could have (and probably should have) downloaded and used, however, instead, I drew this one out on graph paper and then figured out how to make it without a bunch of set in seams....that was the challenge.
Congratulations to the happy couple!!
30 Days of Gratitude - Day 11
I am grateful for all the men and women in our Armed Forces...past, present, and future. Thank you for stepping up to care for and defend our nation.
I especially want to recognize those members of the Armed Forces that are a part of my family:
- My dad, Richard
- My grandpa, Edmunds
- My cousin's boys, Christopher, Billy, and Josh
- My brother-in-law's brother-in-law, Brant
- My sister-friend's fiance, Randall
- My friends, Christine (Chris), Scott, and Phil
- And all the others that are out there that I've either not been aware of or have forgotten.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 10
I am feeling grateful lately for some very abstract things. One such thing is music. I am grateful for all forms and types. I love to have it playing the background when I'm working or sewing. I'll play classical when I'm reading. I'll turn on some dance music when I'm cleaning. When I need a break from the day, I'll go find something relaxing or upbeat or mid tempo, depending on the mood or the need. Sometimes, I need it to lift me up; other times to calm me down. It makes me laugh and cry. I sing along loudly and badly at times. At other times, I just close my eyes and appreciate the beauty of the sounds. Music is in everything. Music can project so much and it is one of those forms of art that can be interpreted differently by each person who plays it as well as by each person that hears it.
Thank you for music. Here is one of my favorite songs, no matter who performs it and trust me I did a YouTube search and there are a lot of people that have performed it.
