UIL Competition?!?

I had the oddest dream last night. I dreamt that I was competing in a UIL (University Interscholastic League) competition. Mind you, UIL is for highschool kids, so no idea why I was participating because in my dream I was not a highschool kid. Here is a breakdown of the dream:

I'm backstage with a dance group. There are four of us in our group and it is some sort of interpretive dance. The dance starts off with us doing a reverse strip-tease, in that we have bodysuits on but our first move is to put on these flowy skirts with elastic at the waist, which made it easy to step in and do a swirly move and get it pulled up gracefully. The dance then consisted of a lot of moving around the stage and waving arms and doing circles and all interpretive and moody. After the dance was complete we all left the stage and our coach said to the team "You all did a great job" and then "Andrea, you put a lot of passion into your dance, but maybe you should just stick to dancing around your house and not in public anymore." Sheesh, even in my dreams I'll never be a Broadway star....

Now, here are my thoughts on why I dreamt of this:

  • UIL - I have a Facebook friend who is a band director and he has been posting about his woodwind orchestra competing and their scores.
  • Dancing - Last night I went to a soccer game with Sara to see her sweet niece, Faith, play. Now, Faith is like 5 so not quite a sports star, yet, but she may get there. What she is is a little dancer and while running up and down the field she looked to be doing what will become a beautiful jazz run some day.

Valentine's Dinner = Wild, Wacky Dreams

As you all know, I have very vivid dreams depending on what I have for dinner. Last night was no surprise that I had some interesting dreams occurring because I had an amazingly wonderful meal. If you'd like to see a play by play, you can check out The Queen's blog V-Day Dinner. She has pictures there...and yes, your mouth will water.

On to my dreams, though. As usual, I can't remember the whole dream but only snippets. (I wonder if I am actually remembering the whole dream because do we know if dreams run their course like a movie on a screen from start to finish or are they only brief vignettes?) So, here are the snippets that I remember:
  • It takes place in Casa ABBA as if we are going through the final walk through before signing my life away.
  • There is another couple walking through the house with me, as if they are looking to purchase it.
  • It is complete furnished, as if it is being staged to sell.
  • The man in the couple is Thomas Gibson, who played Greg Montgomery on Dharma and Greg and is now one of the main characters on Criminal Minds. (And just as a side note, I wanted to BE Dharma on that show and that was part of the draw for me to move to San Francisco. Of course once I lived there I realized that I didn't have the personality or the mentality to be Dharma-esque, but that is a whole other issue.)
  • The room that is going to be the guest room was decorated like a baby's room with the strangest decor in that the wall had 100s of bunny rabbit light switches attached to it...very strange.
  • "Scott" who is the builder that I've been talking with at the office was there showing me around, but he was being played by Billy Dee Williams (I have NO idea where that one came from.)
  • And, lastly, the carpet was really, really cushy, which I guess was caused by the fact that when I woke up I realized that I had completely reoriented myself in my bed and my feet were on my pillow...
Since I'd been watching The Godfather prior to dinner, you would have thought that I would have at least had somebody like Al Pacino or Marlon Brando or at the least Robert Duvall in my dream....but nope, I had Billy Dee Williams and bunny rabbit light switches....

But, the meal was great!

More Freaky Dreams

So, I had another weird dream last night and I actually remembered some of it, not a lot but just some snipits. I dreamt of trying to find a bathroom and once I found one there were 3 three stalls, one was occupied, one was under construction, so I went into the third one. As soon as I closed the door, some stranger stuck her head over the very low door and asked if I would get out and let her use it first. That is pretty much all that I remember, but I did do some dream interpretation and this is what I came up with from some of the symbols:
  • To dream about a toilet indicates a cleansing of thoughts, or discarding something that you don't need any longer.
  • To dream that you are in the bathroom signifies your basic needs and desires. It's possible that you are feeling overwhelmed and you wish to get rid of these issues. It may also symbolize your need to cleanse your spirit and mind of destructive thoughts.
  • To dream that you are in a public restroom with no stalls implies that you feel exposed. You are concerned about the perceptions that others hold of you.
  • To dream that you cannot find the bathroom indicates that you find it challenging to communicate exactly how you feel to others.
  • To see construction in your dream implies that you are in the process of changing some aspect of your life. You possess determination, perseverance, and motivation.
  • To see a stranger in your dream represents an aspect or quality that you refuse to show to others. It may also be suggesting a solution or resolution to an issue that is causing you anxiety.
So, I wonder what it all means.....

Thanks to Dreamforth.com for the interpretations.

Freaky Dreams and Good Food

The past two nights I have had some freaky dreams and each morning I wake up and think "ooo, I need to write this down so I can post it" but of course I don't and then I forget the gist of the dreams. I do think, however, that the reason I've been having these very vivid dreams is because I've had a couple of really great meals over the past two days.

Tuesday night we (The Queen and King, Erika the super realtor, and Missy the side kick) went to this great restaurant, Cafe Izmir. They were having 1/2 price tapas night and $15 pitchers of Sangria. We ate so many scrumptious items. My favorite, I think was the Piroshki, although the Lamb Rolls were also very tasty. Of course, their hummus and pita bread was m-m-m good. The King's favorite dish was the Pomegranate Shrimp and Erika, the super realtor, favorite was the Turkish salad (and I have to agree that they were both pretty darn tasty). I didn't hear what the Queen's favorite dish was as she was on the other end of the table, but I'm certain she'll let us know. Needless to say, this is DEFINITELY a place that I'll be going back to.

Then, last night we had the King's cooking, which is always exceptional, last night was downright scrumptious. We were treated to grilled steaks, mashed potatoes (which always make me do a happy dance), sauteed green beans, crescent rolls, and to top it all off creme brulle. Initially, I was only going to eat half of my steak and bring the other half in to for lunch along with left over taters and beans, but there was just no stopping once I cut into it. I can only imagine what will be on the menu for tonight (not that it matters, because even if it is leftovers, I'm never disappointed when I eat at the King's table).

Now, I only wish I could remember what some of the dreams were about. I know my sister was in one, and lots of driving around, and a puppy....

Dr. Pepper after Dark

Last night I had a diet Dr. Pepper in the evening and then it took me forever to go to sleep. True, it could possibly be because I slept late yesterday and had a fairly lazy day, but I'm certain that the caffeine late at night is not a wise decision.

Something did, however, lead to a VERY weird dream. (Could have been the caffeine, could have been the pepperoni rolls, could have been the mani/pedi, who knows.) I've started thinking about what my next living arrangement step is going to be and have been looking at lofts to purchase, or at least pictures of available lofts. Last night I dreamt of viewing one of these lofts and really liking it and then my aunt Janice (who has never been in a dream, that I recall) appears as the person who is selling the loft and starts taking me around to look at all of it, which is REALLY HUGE (3 stories...again, in a loft?), but totally falling apart. We then go walking out in the backyard (and tell me what loft has a backyard?) and she keeps pointing out things to me, like the basketball court and the extra room that comes with 15 dogs and a roommate, who is a nurse...go figure.

I wake up all of a sudden because there is a really loud noise in my room and it takes me a minute to figure out what it is, then realize that it is my fan (yes, it is winter, I sleep under four quilts, and still have a fan on...more for the white noise than anything), so I turn the fan off, take another Rolaids, crawl back in bed and make a mental note: "What a weird dream, I need to try and blog about it in the morning."

Random Thoughts

I don't really have much to say today, but I have made some interesting observations this week and/or had some random thoughts that I'd like to get down on "paper"...

  1. I was watching television the other night when a Dos XXs commercial just came on and the guy in it looks at the camera and says "It's never too early to start beefing up your obituary." I think they were promoting living life with gusto, etc. but that got me to thinking about what my obituary would say....
  2. I had a dream last night where I was working with our customer, reviewing issues, but they were all like little blue blocks and we were building different walls as we categorized everything. Then Jinjer, whom I've never met in "real life" walks through the room and offers cupcakes. What does that say about what is going on in my subconscious?
  3. While driving in this morning rapping along to DJ Jazzy Jeff and Rob Base (It Takes Two...), I look over at the car next to me and I swear they had a speculum hanging from their rear view mirror. Now who would have something like that just hanging around and why? And, did they notice my mad rapping and dancing skills that I only have in the car.
  4. The Queen and King will be at the HOD in 11 days and I can only hope that my couch arrives in time so that I will have a place to sleep. And, how are we going to coordinate everything that they want to do and see; I only have two days really planned out. And, how do I get to the Oakland airport...

Like I said, I have a bunch of random thoughts running through my head.
