What Was I Thinking

I had the best blog written in my head this morning when I first woke up, but now I can't remember any of it.... I guess that is what happens when you have the glow of the first light of day in your eyes and still rolling out of bed....then you get up and start moving around and checking out the news and next thing you know...bang, your mind is blank...tabula rasa....So, since I can't remember what I was going to write, I'll just throw out some random things to think about:
  1. Today is Holy Experiment Day. The Queen has a blog where she expounds on how special every day is, but every now and then I want to give my own little shout out!! On this day, I am supposed to try something religious. Since I'm not an over-religious person right now, maybe I will give this a try (although, I was hoping that Holy Experiment meant I could try and turn water into wine...).
  2. I received a brownie pan for Christmas. You know the ones where you end up with edges on every brownie. Since yesterday was I Want You to be Happy Day and since the only "You" in my household is "Me" I decided to make up a batch. Surprise, surprise....they made me happy. They made me even more happy today when I brought some into the office and shared with my co-workers. The residual joy was infectious.
  3. Tomorrow is Multiple Personality Day. This really isn't a special day for me seeing as how I celebrate all my personalities every day. I mean, come on, I wasn't the only one eating brownies yesterday, there were at least 2 other people in my head helping me out.

Losing the Great Ones....

Required Reading: Where Is Ronald?

First they get rid of Mayor McCheese....

Now Ronald?!?
What is happening to the world!?!

Say My Name... Say My Name

First, I give mad respect to Destiny's Child for the title of today's blog. Long time fan....

Second, I almost titled this "Pronunciation P's and Q's" but then this song got stuck in my head.

Third, the Queen sent me a link to a very old "article" on The Today Show where Bryant Gumble said something along the lines of "How do you pronounce that little a inside a circle..."

That comment made me think of the following, which was recently sent to me by a co-worker:

How would you pronounce this child's name: "Le-a"?
Leah? - NO
Lee - A? - NOPE
Lay - a? - NO
Lei? - Guess Again.

It's pronounced "Ledasha" Oh yes...you read it right. This child
attends a school in Louisiana. Her mother is irate because everyone is getting
her name wrong. SO, if you see something come across your desk like this please
remember to pronounce it correctly. When the mother was asked about the
pronunciation of the name, she said "the dash don't be silent."

Oh how far we have come.....

Carpool Conversation

** WARNING ** THIS IS COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY POLITICALLY INCORRECT!!

Below is a reinactment of this morning's carpool conversation with The Queen (QB):

ABBA - Watched American Idol last night...
QB - Thoughts?
ABBA - The guys were okay.
QB - I don't really remember any of them...
ABBA - There are 3 "unique" white guys, 3 Italian-looking guys, 2 gay black guys, the annoying ginger-guy, the country guy, an Asian guy, and somebody else....
QB - right...
ABBA - Is it PC to say "black" or should it be "African-American"?
QB - dunno... {relays other conversation with her co-worker}
ABBA - Why is it "African-American"? Can I call myself "Caucasian-American"?
QB - I guess I would be like "German/Irish/Something-American"?
ABBA - Actually we would be like "European-American" since Africa is a continent....
QB - True.... Would somebody from Mexico be North American-American?
ABBA - Depends on if they are of Spanish decent...they would also be European-American...unless they are from Aztec decent...Aztecian-American.

At this point we started to completely lose it and went off on all sorts of tangents.... The nice thing is that we started our day off laughing, and that is what is REALLY important to take away from this....

Morning Routine

I'm sure we all have our morning routines and whenever they are thrown off, even slightly, it can throw the whole day off kilter....that whole Butterfly Effect (and I'm not talking the bad Ashton Kutcher movie...like there is a good Ashton Kutcher movie, but I digress). Here is a quick rundown of what my morning looks like:

5:30 - Wake Up
6:00 - Get out of Bed. Eat Breakfast
6:20 - Get in Shower
6:35 - Finish Shower
6:45 - Dry Hair
6:50 - Put on Makeup
6:55 - Get Dressed
7:00 - Join first conference call of the day while getting lunch together and finishing up stuff.
7:15 - Out the door (depending on carpool plans)

Here is how this morning went:
5:30 - Wake Up
6:00 - Get out of Bed. Eat Breakfast
6:20 - Get in Shower
6:35 - Finish Shower
6:40 - Watch the news to find out about weather. IM with The Queen.
6:50 - Lay out clothes
6:55 - Put on Makeup
7:00 - Join conference call.
7:05 - Change clothes
7:08 - Make lunch
7:15 - Grab keys and lunch and start to head out the door.
7:16 - Realize that my hair is still in a wet towel.....

Who sees a problem here?!?
