Stuck in my Mind

For some reason I have had the word Uzbekistan stuck in my head for a couple of days now.

It kept popping up in my dreams last night. It just keeps looping through, UzbekistanUzbekistanUzbekistan. I wan't certain that it was a real word or a place that Sasha Baron Cohen made up (not sure why THAT would come to mind). So, I Googled it this morning and lo and behold it is a real place....now if I could replace it in my head with something else....UzbekistanUzbekistanUzbekistan.... help.

So, Where Have I Been

As I mentioned yesterday, I am completely aware of the fact that I have been a MIA blogger. So, here is a list of things that have been going on in my world that I thought about blogging on but didn't:

  • I tried accupuncture, because I had a coupon for it. It was an ok experience.

  • I've started doing some cooking and have actually had company over and prepared meals for them, although I'm still challenged with my timing of things.

  • My dad had surgery. I figure I can menion it since my mom did (6th Floor H.H.).

  • I went to the rodeo with Sara, who was then lucky enough to go to dinner to celebrate my sister's birthday with her husband's family.

  • I completely missed giving a big shout out to the best sister in the world on her birthday.

  • While my actual reading of books has not been as prolific as I would like (I don't actually think I've finished reading a single book yet this year), I have made it through a number of books because I'm very much into listening to them instead. In fact, I will sit in the office and be working away while listening to a book rather than music.

  • I've been planning a trip to Europe for this summer, and have my tickets purchased, so now it is a matter of figuring out what all I need to take with me.

  • The Devil Dog is doing well. He has gotten over all of his health issues after months and months of rounds of antibiotics. And now that he is all well, he is full on crazy.

  • I joined a gym and have worked out with a trainer a couple of times, including last night which if you could see me as I type this you would see me wincing in pain.

Okay, I do believe that is it in a nutshell as to what has been going on with me.

Grandma Shoes

So, yes, I realize that I haven't blogged in well over a month (ok, going on two) and I apologize for that. I have gotten regular grief from Chief (and you know who you are) for not providing regular tall tales to all of my faithful readers. I will try and improve on my deliverables, but I make no promises.

In the meantime, today's blog is about my shoes that I wore today:

I forgot that actually had these shoes until I was looking around in the closet this morning trying to find the perfect pair of shoes to wear. I initally got these shoes to wear in Vegas last summer, but ended up not taking them, hence the tucking away in the closet and forgetting about them. For today, I needed the perfect pair of shoes that would be dressy, but springy as we have warmer weather, and since my pedicure from last week is still in good shape, I wanted to show of the toes (no, there will not be a picture of the actual feet). I first thought of a cute pair of black patent wedges with a peep toe, but they were actualy too high and threw the pants length off, so they wouldn't do. Next, was a pair of black sandals, but they were way too casual and would make me look schlumpy. When I actually remembered these shoes, I remembered them as being black and not gold, but I'm happy that they are gold (I must have been thinking of similar sandals that I also purchased for Vegas but ended up returning).

As I look at these shoes now, they remind me of my Grandma V. (and a little of my mom circa 1974 when she had the really cool frosted teased up hair). I remember my grandma having these metallic shoes that she would wear for special occasions. Grandma always wore Grasshoppers, or at least I always associate Grasshoppers with my grandma, although now that I look at their current line, they don't remind me so much of Grandma. And, the reason I will not show you a picture of my feet in my perfect spring shoes is because my feet and ankles also remind me of Grandma V, which sadly was not one of her better features.
