Random Thoughts

I'd like to first say that I appreciate the comments that my last post generated. I knew that there would be some discussion. I did hope that more people would think "Cher in a black body stocking" as I did and Agent Dragonfly grasped, but I know that many of you out there are very serious about your politics (not that you aren't Agent) so I will look past the lack of pop-culture reference. Personally, I don't like to be serious and will try to avoid being such in the future.

Now, on to my Random Thoughts....
  • Why do you think flashing your bright lights at me is going to make me get out of your way? I'm already going 80 and there are three other lanes that you can drive in. Speeding up behind me in a Volvo and flashing lights will NOT make me go faster or pull over; it will only annoy me and if anything make me take my foot off the gas.
  • Is WD-40 a new concept for people? Do they even make it still? I went to Target this week to pick up a few things and WD-40 was one such item. I asked numerous employees and they all looked at me like I was speaking another language (which, in all honesty I probably was). After explaining it was a magic product that you put on hinges and drawers to stop them from squeaking and to glide smoother, the only direction I received was "we don't have an aisle WD40". I'll see if they have any at Long's Drugstore....they have everything.
  • Is there some cosmic system as to the order that light bulbs burn out? If I replace four light bulbs at the same time, why do they not all burn out at the same time? Why is there always one that wants to cling to life and who will only burn out as soon as I've replaced all the others, put away the bulbs, and the ladder?

If I Could Turn Back Time

I've had a couple of different things floating around in my head that I wanted to talk about but can never recall them when I actually get to a computer, plus, everything I keep considering writing about is all negative and depressing.

So, I decided to pose a question that came up this afternoon while chatting with the Queen... What do you think George W. Bush's presidency would have been like if we could turn back time and had not had the terrorist attack on 9/11?

And in this same time-themed post, have any of you watched the Discovery Channel show Time Warp? I would recommend it if you have a chance. It is a really wacky show where these guys film all sorts of things in slow motion and then reply them back to see how things work. If any of you have little (or big) boys out there this might be really fun to watch.

Just a little recommendation and thought-provoking question from your friendly ABBA

As My Mother Pointed Out

There were a number of typos, misspellings, and completely incorrect grammar moments in my previous blog. There is a reason for that....I was creating it while still in bed Sunday morning on my Blackberry Bold, so I have an excuse. However, please forgive me especially since I was pointing out the errors that the staff at the Queen Mary made.

I would also like to note that I have updated my blog to include links to the other HCBCs as per the rules of our undocumented charter. Since I was made the official "Metro-stop Counter" and VP of Marketing and I think Parliamentarian, then I should probably start following the rules. And as my first act as Parliamentarian, I'll get those rules documented and approved by the COO, CTO, CIO, and whoever else wants a vote in the rules...we are a democracy, if I'm not mistaken.

Now, if I can take a few moments to vent about things that have annoyed me thus far today...
  • My computer has completely blocked access to the Queen's blog. I can only view it via my Blackberry or wait until I am home and view it on my MacBook.
  • I live in a building that is supposed to be animal-free, as in nobody is supposed to have animals. I don't have a problem with pets. I love pets. Every body's dogs seem to really like me and cats tolerate me. However, I am annoyed with the lady who lives on my floor who has a little dog in her apartment and who it seems can't quite get it outside in the morning, but rather lets it pee on the carpet by the elevator or in the elevator.
  • Why can't we have paper actually delivered to the room where the copier/printer is located? Why do I have to walk to the other side of the building to get the case of paper and why can't somebody offer to help me carry said case to the copier/printer room? And why can't the case of paper that I schlepped across the building be the plain copier paper and NOT three-hole punch paper?

Weekend Update

Hello to all my faithful readers out there. I just wanted to give you a quick recap of my weekend excursion to Southern California.
Let me first say that I had a great time and have pretty much done nothing but laugh. We only broke a couple of laws, such as text while driving and chewing gum on the Metro (thank you, Kim, for pointing that ou) and I did blog while in the air even though my phone supposed to be turned off, but I'm a rebel that way.
We ate a lot. We saw the Queen Mary and had lots of photo ops for the Queen B to manipulate. And I found an annoying typo in one of the disply posters.
I "helped" Laura buy 4 or was it 5 pairs of shoes and reliazed that I think my own feet have grown a whole other size.
We say the Hollywood walk of fame and Graman's Chinese Theatre.
And we laughed, a lot.

To my hosts, I want to say thank you so much. I've has a great weekend.
To the rest of the HCBCs, we hope you can make the next gathering!!
