I Might Not Even Make It In
I'm noticing a pattern in my morning routine that is developing. In spite of my previous blog about my consistency, the following is happening:
Monday - Out of the house at 6:25
Tuesday - Out of the house at 6:35
Wednesday - Out of the house at 6:45 (caught in school zone by the office)
Thursday - Out of the house at 7:00 (caught by school bus being loaded in the neighborhood AND caught in school zone by the office)
Friday - Who knows....
Of course since I will probably start carpooling again next week, there will be whole new variables impacting when I get out of the house...

Reason Behind the Madness
Yesterday one of my co-workers made a comment about how I am extremely consistent in getting to the office and being at my desk, even though, technically I could just as easily do my work from home and there really isn't the need to be AS prompt and predictable as I am. I actually have a reason for why I am as predictable as I am.... I want people to know where I am and to worry about me if they haven't seen or heard from me. A couple of examples:
My sister got married while I was in college and I went home, obviously, for the event. I left on probably Thursday and was planning on going back to school late on Sunday, but decided to skip classes on Monday and just come in later that day so that I'd have one more day to spend with the family that was in town. My mom even asked "shouldn't you call Kim (my roommate) and let her know that you won't be coming in until tomorrow?" I responded with "Nah, she won't care." Well, when I showed up on Monday, she gave me quite the tongue lashing as she actually WAS concerned and thought perhaps I was dead on the side of the road somewhere.
Flash-forward a couple of years to when I was working in an office, being very prompt, even early, every morning and people could rely that I would always be the first in the office. One Thursday evening, I went out and had an adult beverage or two so that when Friday morning alarm went off, I decided to turn it off and sleep in a bit, knowing that I would still be able to make it into the office just at the regular time. When I rolled into the office a couple of hours later than usual, my co-workers were all in a tizzy because they too were concerned that I hadn't shown up and they thought the worst.
Well, that got me to thinking....hmmm, if something were to happen to me who would know and when? For example, if I go missing on the Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend, nobody is going to even think about sending out a search party until Tuesday morning... Now, I'm pretty good at staying in touch with people pretty regularly and with Facebook updates, blogging, and BBM'ing I'm in some sort of contact with people all the time, so I'm not nearly as worried about disappearing. However, I still have that need to let people know where I'm going and what I'm doing.
Oh, and just in case, I have x-rays at the dentist office of my teeth, just in case somebody ever has to identify my remains... Is that a little too morbid on this fine Spring morning?

First ABBA Cooked Meal
Not certain if the chicken is cooked all the way through and the veggies are a little burnt and the rice a little sticky, but I don't care!!
World Water Day
I just found out that today, March 22, is World Water Day.
Last week while I was driving with my sister up to visit my grandmother, she told me her campaign to help with water waste. It started at breakfast at the hotel on Saturday. One of the kids had a bowl of cereal and there was a bunch of milk left in the bowl. Marti picked the bowl up and instead of throwing the bowl and milk into the trash she took it upstairs and poured it out in the sink. When I asked her why she did this, she gave the following explanation:
Don't let water stay trapped inside plastic. Pour out your liquids and release the molecules back into the universe.

The world is in a serious water crisis and there is so much water (in many liquid forms) trapped in plastic bottles or trash bags sitting in dumps. I am going to make it my work to inform people that they need to pour the water out and release it back into the environment. After that talk, I promised her that I would help spread the message (of course I then promptly forgot until just now) and that I would start making it a point to pour out my water bottles, soda bottles, etc. when I don't finish the drink rather than throw the bottle away with liquid trapped. I then saw that today was World Water Day and I am keeping my promise to my sister and spreading the word.
Don't let water stay trapped inside plastic. Pour out your liquids and release the molecules back into the universe.
Horoscope
Here is today's horoscope:
Brainstorming should go quite well for you today -- your mental energy is sparking new ideas every few minutes, and it's a good idea for you to write down
as many as you can. Get to work later.
I'm so feeling the need to work later, but at the moment the mental energy sparking...not so much.
