Headaches Update

I went to the doctor yesterday to have her look into why I keep getting such terrible headaches. To give you perspective, I woke up at 3:11 yesterday morning out of a dead sleep thinking my head was about to explode and actually thought about calling Sam to take me to the hospital. Instead, I took two Advil sent an email to my boss telling her I would be in late, and turned off my alarm.

So, after I got myself around and into the office, I still made it there by 9:00 AM, I called my doctor's office to see if I could get in the same day. She was able to fit me in yesterday afternoon, which was very exciting to me. I went in and after some pushing and prodding on my face, I learned that I have a sinus infection and tension headaches. I was a little surprised at the sinus infection since I haven't been having any issues with breathing and what not, but she said that everything seems to be packed in there pretty tight and is probably what has been causing my nose bleeds; the fix was to give me some antibiotics. I was NOT surprised about the tension headaches and she said the only fix for those would be to make some serious lifestyle changes.

Well, I started taking my antibiotics like a good girl and I tried to have a better outlook on life this morning. That lasted all of about 30 minutes...right up to the point where I got on a conference call with the Corporate Quality team. They were looking to me as the account Quality Manager to provide a quarterly update as to where we were on all of out Quality Initiatives, I won't bore you dear readers about what those are but they are basically all of the areas that would show that we are doing a good job and actually performing appropriately. The call lasted 10 minutes, I threw myself under the bus and told them that the entire Quality Plan isn't even on the stove any more, let alone on the back burner. That I'm doing 3 people's jobs right now and really haven't been able to focus on any of the initiatives and I don't think any body else has really had focus on them either. During the call I start to tear up, which doesn't help the sinus infection and headaches, and tense up to the point where once again I cannot move my head and my shoulders are up around my ears.

Needless to say, I got off the phone, wrote a scathing email to my boss telling her that I can no longer do this job (I have tucked that away in the draft folder and will probably never send it), updated my resume, and have started looking for something else because this whole situation is not worth my health.

So, does anybody know of any open jobs out there?

Well yes but they are corporate jobs:-) However, at least they are with companies that seem stable and treat their employees pretty darn well. Hopefully some of these will come through for you. I also touched base with my friend Abby (pilates) in SF who knows massage therapists and she said she would inquire into what programs they recommend.

LMAO KT!!! I was going to say that I had a ton of letters like that to old bosses. I erased them once I became the boss! Then people had letters like that to me!!

Glad you know the more immediate cause of the headaches, and maybe once the antibiotics kick in you'll feel better physically in a day or 2 so you can focus on eliminating, or at least down-sizing, the stress.

I have the same letter in my drafts folder, too, and not unlike KT, I have had to change the "to" several different times!

May I suggest getting a good 1-hour massage for the stress part of your headaches?
