Here is a list put forth by the National Endowment for the Arts in the U.S. It lists the top 1oo books and asks how many you've actually read. The Big Read (which is an initiative of the NEA designed to restore reading to the center of American culture) estimates that the average adult has only read 6 of the books on this list.
Here’s how it works:
Look at the list and bold those you have read.
Italicize those you intend to read.
Reprint this list on your blog and link back to this post (As seen on Rachel Made Me Do This...).

ok there are only 17 I have not read from this list. Thats not bad! of course most of all that reading was done in my twenties:-(
this list is too long ;)
I feel bad about myself when I look at this list...
You have read Jude the Obscure. Remember in high school-Jude the Homosexual?
I've read almost half of the list. Most of the others do not intrest me in the least. I'm too tired to have to think that hard. :)
Best book on the list is To Kill a Mockingbird
Well I kinda lost count but I think there are only 16 I have not read. I have even read the Bible!!! Great plot, but a little fantastical!! Dad says to tell you that he has read about 30-35 of them!! You need to read the Kite Runner and his second one, A Thousand Splendid Suns. Mom
Nice list! Being a double-degreed English major, I have to say amen to reading in America. However, including the Brobdingnagian Harry Potter series is too much -- someone needs to pick the best one.
