Flashback Friday

The first weekend I stayed over when out in California, I drove down to Santa Cruz, just to check it out. It had actually snowed there and somebody made a snowman on the boardwalk there....it didn't last long, but it was fun to see.

I've been in my house for a whole week now.... Do I miss California, some but I'm SOO happy to have this place that I can really, really call my own!!

This is a picture of my Grandmother, wasn't she a classy lady. I'm off to go visit her today.

Oh yeah, closing on the house today as well.

Flashback Friday

In 1978 (at least that is the date on the picture) while visiting my grandparents we, my sister, me, and my cousin Debbie, came across our mom's formals and wedding dresses. We were old enough to be allowed to dress up in these dresses. While Marti and I only put these dresses on this one time, Debbie did eventually wear her mother's wedding dress in her wedding.

Flashback Friday

This time last year my folks came out to visit me in San Francisco. This is a table in a little Mexican restaurant that we went to for dinner one evening. My dad's hands are on the right, mine are on the left...we hold our hands in a very similar manner...

Flashback Friday

This is a flashback from two years ago on a great trip up to the wine country with a couple of my favorite people. This trip was first chronicled in the Three Part Banana Slug Chronicles.

I love you guys and look forward to doing another trip some time in the future!!

Flashback Friday

About this time last year, Samantha and I took the Ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito just so that we could go to Horizons Restaurant and sip champagne while watching the boats on the bay. It was a beautiful day and a great trip. These are the things that I do miss about leaving San Francisco.

Flashback Friday

We are celebrating my sister, Marti's, birthday this weekend. When we were kids, Mom would make us doll cakes using a Skipper doll and a cake baked in a bowl.

Flashback Friday

This is a picture of the backyard of our house in Oak Grove, MO in January early 1970s. We lived out in the country and I can remember playing in the snow at that house and our dad throwing us in the snow drifts and struggling to get out. We'd go inside after playing in the snow and have hot chocolate with big marshmallows (of course) and cinnamon toast with lots of butter and sugar.

Flashback Friday

I don't have a picture of New Year's Day handy (any that I have would be in storage). However, I do have this picture of a form of celebration. On July 4, 1976 we celebrated our country's Bi-Centennial. My mom's family came to visit us at our place in Mississippi. This picture was taken of me, my sister, and two of our cousin's ringing in the birthday of our country.

Happy New Year, everybody!! May this year bring you all the happiness that you all so richly deserve!!

Flashback Friday

In 1979 my grandparents rented a four-plex in Florida and the whole family all trekked there for Christmas. My grandmother cut the words to one of her favorite songs out of gold foil paper and taped them to the wall in the hall. These were also always over the fireplace when we had Christmas at her house. I bring this up because this year my sister (top right corner of the picture) has gone to Florida with her kids and husband's family to enjoy the sun and surf for the holidays. This was a great time and we had a lot of memories from this trip. I hope Marti and family create their own memories. (Also in picture, my cousin Danny, top left, cousin Debbie, bottom right, and me, bottom left.)

Merry Christmas to everybody!!

Flashback Friday - A Couple Days Late

I knew I had a picture where I was wearing the very groovy white pleather boots (as mentioned in the Queen's Flashback a couple of weeks ago)!!

Flashback Friday

This is me in 1972... I got a cowgirl ensemble that year for Christmas.... I guess I was always meant to be a cowgirl. I need to go back to January of last year when I went to the National Cowgirl Museum and revisit Cowgirl Smarts....

Flashback Friday

This is my very first Christmas, which puts me at about 8 months old (yeah, I'm the one in the highchair). This is with one of my Great Grandmothers. I've been lucky enough to have had all of my grandparents in my life for the better part of it and to have had at one point 3 of my Great Grandmothers alive during my lifetime. My sister is the one standing next to me and Grandma is holding my cousin Cathy and my second cousin Jo Janet.

Flashback Friday

I know that this is a little late for Halloween, but I think it is a very cute picture. This is a shot of my older sister, Marti at 3 years and me at 6 months.

Wasn't I a cute kid!!

Oh and just a warning to my family... I have old pictures that may just find their way out here... I'll try not to be too embarrassing!!

Flashback Friday

I don't actually have flashback pictures to speak of, however, for me these are a little bit of a flashback. These are some pictures that I took a couple of weeks ago when I went down to College Station for an A&M game with The Queen. That trip was a bit of a trip down memory lane as well as a horrific slap in the face as to how old I've gotten and how, surprisingly, time didn't stand still after I graduated.

We had really great seats. I want to thank The Queen and her Dad for inviting me. It was a really great weekend for me.
